A poem I wrote to highlight the difference between Jesus and false religion. In the scriptures Jesus received the most opposition from the most religious people of his day. At it's core Jesus' gospel and the good news of the Cross is in pure opposition to self-righteousness/self-justification. Religion is man centered, Jesus is God-centered. This poem highlights my journey to discover this truth. Religion either ends in pride or despair. Pride because you make a list and can do it and act better than everyone, or despair because you can't do your own list of rules and feel "not good enough" for God. With Jesus though you have humble confident joy because He represents you, you don't represent yourself and His sacrifice is perfect putting us in perfect standing with God!

For each second in a minute my mind is thinking of ways to do more, be better, grind harder, work smarter. But sometimes, I feel as tho Im just standing in the same spot. Maybe not exactly the same spot but not very far from the last spot I was just in.

Soo to make myself feel better about my turtle speed situation, I constantly remind myself "life is Gods speed" ~~i probably should tattoo this on my forehead or something~~ anyways,

meaning, only he orders the speed at which I'am to move about.

And then my brain tells me "but you're the one doing all the walking - SO HURRY IT UP!!"

So, what do I do in a situation such as this you ask?
I'm learning to just celebrate today. Simply enjoy each day.
When I feel any friction, I stop, breathe and (try my best to) proceed with ease.
..easier said than done.
But soon, with practice, this too, will be effortless.

My visit back home was sooo Amazing!! Usually when I visit home I feel a little tense because I battle with the old Shy (way of thinking) VS the nu Shy (way of thinking) I AM SO PROUD TO ANNOUNCE, it seems as tho I am past that!

To not stretch myself so thin, I arranged to meet with friends & family at group gatherings. Those being, a BBQ held in bklyn for my oldest bro & sis in-law birthdays, another birthday party held in Queens, by my friend Candacee, for her 5 year old daughter -there I was able to spend time my girlfriends I grew up with from my teenage years, and yes, they now have children. Being that I STILL see myself as a baby, I don't have any children as yet.

Due to a storm Sunday afternoon, brunch and dinner with other friends was cancelled ; /

And so, before I attempted* to take flight, a few of my girls and I had a surprise birthday lunch for my (sis in-law) at Burrito Bar.

We made a toast w/ white sangria's in hand to Love and Happiness!

Special Thank u to our God for taking great care of my *shining star* -my great grandma :)

...promise i will get better with taking pictures while on vacation.

Out With The Old & In With The Nu

Sorry guys for my lack of keeping you updated/blogging. To be honest I have been all over the place trying to get things in order. From working on my acting craft (focus), to the nu job (sacrificing), not shopping -as much (prioritizing), staying aligned with the positive and less on negative (focus) the list goes on, but being at the computer to update my blog has kinda been the last thing I needed to do. However, I am back! And I've lost lots of weight -mental weight.

Being the kind of person I am, whenever I notice a change that I didn't cause/create in my life, I begin to think outside of my own personal feelings to ~~maybe~~ (not really maybe because im a control freak) figure out where the change could have possibly come from. And usually I attempt to try to fix it.

Lately, I haven't felt like fixing much.

I mean the thought crosses my mind bc I always think like "Shy, just be the fix that needs the fixing" but when I think back, that hasn't always helped. So I'm learning to narrow the things I allow myself to try and ~~control~~ fix.

I believe a lot of women can relate to the "fix it" feeling, mainly in our intimate relationships, especially when things seem to be going towards a downward spiral.

Note: this is not in any way is about an intimate relationship, but more so about any Change we have allowed to occupy too much of our thought process, given time in conversations with our peers speaking negatively on it, or have allowed to cause depression in our lives. It's a sucky feeling to not know/understand why something changed from good to bad.

Now when there is a situation that is a little sus... you can kiss my____!

LOL, just kidding!

..depending on what the situation is -the first thing i think to myself is,

"ok, did I or didn't I cause/create the change", (this can take a while, i'm very analytical but very fair)

if not, I ask myself "then why am I focused on it?" "what? am I like punishing myself??"

if there IS a possibility, I'll address it in a manner that i would want it addressed to me. (and that is as un-selfish as i know how)

I believe if someone ever feels they are at fault, they should always initiate the communication. Unfortunately that doesn't always happen.

And so I'm learning I can't always be the fixer.

SHY FACT: I LOve bike riding!
But I can't lie, this bike ride kicked my butt. Not to mention, besides the bike at the gym, I couldn't tell you the last time I actually rode a bike : /
Secretly, I was a little disappointed in myself. I mean...ME? out of shape? what... who is that???

So in 99 degree weather...
We rode "Ehh Hem" -a surprisingly 7 miles that day :)
Thank God for the abundance of trees that shaded us and the healthy scenery wasn't bad either!

Memorial day weekend a close friend of mine treated me to Sea World and to the River Walk in SA. We had a great time. I saw Shamu and her new born baby along with and a bunch of snotty nose children running around the park enjoying the beautiful weather and all the amenities the park had to offer.

All week long I've been listening to the album "SELFMADE" by Rick Ross Maybach music group.
My definition of self-made would be of a person who instills leadership, independence, originality, determination, knowledge & wisdom.

I'm very picky when it comes to what rap music I choose to listen to. And usually if the artist isn't a self-made one, there's no doubt that I 'll be spacing out after any Fisher-Price rap rhymes.

Gray days are transforming back to lighter days as I keep in mind, all things will continue to move forward. To be honest, these past five months have left me in a state of confusion and a mild depression. My question of the day for everyday was "why am I here?" or "help me see what you are trying to show me??". All while praying for clarity and keeping faith that the weight of my unknown will soon be off my shoulders and finally I will be out of this 5 month zone.

And So...

For the past week I've been effortlessly HIGH!! I finally finished a DIY project (a see thru clutch) I was working on for the last 3 weeks that should have only taken at most 1/2 days.. My rapid eating habits are strangely dying out on its own. Furthermore, I realize the more I allow myself to let go the things I cannot change, the sharper my focus gets.

Speaking of resurrection, I believe my metabolism is slowing down. Normally it would only take about 2 weeks to get back into a comfortable shape (and that's just from watching what I ate). FYI, most of my uncomfortable weight is in my breasts, stomach and thighs. Its been two weeks of working out and eating healthier and I'm still not half way to my comfortable weight. I am still 152pds, I want & need to be 130pds. For the first time in my life I understand how hard it is to lose weight. Which leads me to my next thought.. I'm thinking about doing the master cleanse..AGAIN.

It's been 5 days since I've been back to Austin from moving my things into storage in LA-and now its time to make new changes. At this moment I feel very close to the one door that will forever open as many doors when and wherever I want. However, there is "something" holding me back.

This is what I see:

I am standing before a doorway as if I am getting ready to walk through. I see and hear my friends and family along with lots of new happy faces smiling, clapping, waving, rooting while waiting for me to enter. Im wearing a White chiffon spaghetti strap knee length dress, my hair is "blow dryed" straight, parted down the middle, resting past my shoulders. I have no vision of my feet, so I can't say what shoes I'm wearing. Everything around me is White except for my family, friends and newcomers, they are all dress with color...smh, What the hell does this mean...

It's as I'm missing something to motivate my current inspirations, and so I find myself desperately seeking new inspiration. "DON'T STOP, PLAN, LEAD, DISCOVER, DRIVE, BE DETERMINED, MOVE ALONG, GIVE, TAKE, WISE" are the words I hear all day, day after day.

Sometimes we get so caught up in life that we forget to simply LIVE LIFE. A prayer for the things I cannot change, while letting go and letting God usually does the trick for me. Nothing happens over night, but anything you put practice to gets better with time.

sadly... im not the skinny mini i was 4 months ago..
i actually planned for some specific things to happen (within my life) and that didn't happen the way i planned, which is why i gained all the unwanted weight. BOOOOO..i know

However, i am back on my healthy regiment. this time i will attend the gym more times than i ever have (starting 4-5x's a week, working my way up to 7days a week). *Nu mantra- No Pain, No Gain.

The things that make one happy will sometimes be the same things that make one cry. Certain people or things that one once trusted can turn into a book filled with lies. Things one once loved, may transform into something he or she no longer likes. I am guilty of all of this. However, instead of allowing people or things to shape who Shytina Love is, I choose to remain faithful to God and myself.

We all go through similar situations: happiness, love, pain, hurt, anger, laughter, disease, life, death etc. But what distinguishes us is how we choose to handle those situations and learn from those lessons.

My choice to move from New York to Los Angeles was all about being myself. Back home I found myself getting involved in situations that I should not have been in. I am usually very honest with myself, however there were elements in my circle that were not adding up.

Los Angeles brought me peace of mind. Being away from the things that kept me stagnant allowed me to evaluate my life and figure out what was important to me. I was able to see what makes me happy, what drives me, and what needs to be lapped. Through this process, I realized that in order to truly be myself I needed to let go of the past and be open to present possibilities.

When letting go of the past and being open-minded to the present one must also be open to meeting new people and letting some others go. I believe that relationships are really, what I like to call, “reflection-ships”. Meaning that the person, with whom we chose to have a relationship with whether it is romantic or mutual, is a reflection of ourselves. However, when we mirror one another, aspects of us can be distorted, illuminated or have a positive or negative association. One thing I learned about myself is that when I am critical about a subject it’s a reflection of who I am, I am critical because I am displeased with myself for being so.

I ask: relationship or “reflection-ship”? Am I relating with you or are you relating with me? In all actuality, I feel that I am not relating with you at all. It’s all through reflection. I do not know exactly who I am but I definitely will learn more about myself. I often wonder if I will I ever really know.

These reflections have been instilled in me through society and my parents. And it will continue to be apart of my life. Now I know that I can be whoever I want, anytime I want and that I have a choice.

At first sight, Amber, LaToya and Amber's friend, with her she brought her newborn :) 3mons old :)...(I saw the baby as a symbol of the angels arriving before me the moment I was created) DEEP, I know. My celebration was coming together. Not to long later the rest of the crew came together Nikki, Tait, Star and the list goes on!

Now this song is definitely meant to toot my own horn! Why? Reason being, I HAVE
"created and continue to distinguish my own WAVE." (emphasis on WAVE, as my homey "A" aka Aaliya would say.) Just to give a little insight on what a "WAVE" is… it means anything that is consistent and has an influence. Get in......I'm taking this moment to step outside myself and take notice of all my many great accomplishments like THE SOURCE, KING MAGAZINE, LUCKY, RIPTHERUNWAY etc... because I hardly ever do so. Considering the field I'm in (model/actress) one rarely gets the recognition they truthfully deserve. A few people along the way - en route to my fame monster, lol - have taken time out to show Love (me... double entendre) that I'm doing pretty well for myself...hearing things like "Yo Shy, you doing sh*t girls dream of doing......do you know how many girls want to do what your Already doing???" Moments like that all I could do is smile because I never really looked at it that way. In the midst of building my own empire, and fine tuning the master plan of branding myself I continue to be an influential force among my peers (whether intended or not) and throughout my community. *Sigh :)*...feels good to know there is a steady incline to my success because my spirit constantly evolves through the growth of my humility.
But this conclusion is far from humble, quite overdue, I promise I won’t do this for a while but from the words of this over the top diva I reflect........

...before, searching with no luck for this plug from fox 11 news, i was looking at the funniest seinfeld episode. for all you Seinfeld lovers, im not one. i would catch it every now and again. however, missing new york lately, watching seinfeld made me feel closer to home :) it was the one when elaine was president of the company and started spending all the companies money & buys george that fur hat, lol omg, anyway, after that Fox 11 came on and they brought The Finaza Foundation (Finaza-creating something out of no-where and no-thing) to my attention, and i was speechless... ...So, I was trying to wait for Peace Day 2010's organization to put up there great photo's that we had taken that day but Lord knows when that will happen so here are photo's that i took!

My favorite part of the day was the line I had for face painting! I was nervous at first, or rather a little intimidated. I didn't want to give the kids what they didn't ask for...but I thought to myself "don't let that feeling overwhelm you, do your best and they will be happy with that" and so I did. And then I had teenagers coming back for extra paintings!! =)
This little boy was one of my favorite, he wanted a sun!

I have been fighting with myself a lot these days. My fights aren't all the same. But, some of them are. I see my life in a new light than I have ever seen it before ...and I can't lie, I'm scared. I'm afraid of loosing my friends, especially since Im still learning who they really. Some days I'm afraid of rejection, so I wont push myself as I usually would or I wont do something just out of pure confidence because "I" doubt myself first.

Some days I feel like I'm loosing myself.

Some days I think about where Im at, at that very moment. I surprise myself when I realize I've accomplished something I said "I would have" or "I wanted" years ago. I thank God more and more everyday. Im learning to let go.

Some days I feel like everything will be how I see it to be.

So with that, it's a constant fight. Work, friends, money, pride... life gets in the way. And as I'm maturing, I realize, I'm also setting my ways and I don't want to be like ones of those "she's set in her ways" kind of person.

Can you hear the battle???

... One great thing is, since I have let God in my life, he has been taking me on one very interesting journey. Even speaking spiritually Im afraid because I think that the ones I care about wont understand me. They might say things like " Oh boy, Shy talkin that church stuff" or "oh boy, here she go" whatever negative emotion one lets out when they don't understand something. I don't like that energy sent my way. ....Maybe I should be a little more selfish? Not in a bad way, but do what makes me feel good, all the time, no matter how anybody feels...

that has been a repeating thought for the past couple of days, as it has for weeks, months and yrs ago...it never seemed like a bad idea, I guess things aren't meant to be that way right now...

My girlfriends brought me here after church (as a surprise) two Sundays ago. It feels so good to have great friends in LA. As for LA, it's been a great ride thus far. Like everyone, I have my good and bad days but for the most part I am VERY blessed. And things can always be worst than what we may think.

my halloween was spent with my boo toya, she's one of my new la ladies ;) I Lives for toya, as much as i believe she does for me! we went to tai and noir crib, thats were we met her mom OMG!! im so upset i just realized i dont even have a pic up of her smh!! she was sooooo cute. i think she was pebbles ;) not in the fresh pebbles outfit thoo (cu*t voice) hee hee :) she did wear a bone in her hair tho lol...too cute

U ever felt like ur having a telepatic battle with something? For example wanting to say something aloud for whatever reason u dont. (sort of what im doing now lol)
well i have these battles from time to time. and usually its bc someone else holds the same battle. one of us needs to let go to get rid of it.

to me its all energy, and once its cut, then its over. here's a story.

i have a few back & fourth situations in my life. most of the time i try my best to nip it in the bud (confront) so that there are no misunderstandings. i think that works bc usually the coversation goes cool, for the most part. but in actuality sometime this doesnt work. i believe its bc i cant shape someones beliefs if that's not what he/she wants 2 believe. Duh! So then how do u stop the back in fourth?

people "say" they dont worry about it, they "say" they just leave it alone, but they dont (i compare it to a 1st, 2nd & 3rd breakup all with the same person, better yet compare it to sweeping the dirt under the rug). ... whether someone really "forgets" about a particular situation that they "have to say" they dont worry about, i do believe there's a 50% chance they might just erase it. i also believe only people with intellect are good "hidders" at this. point being, let go the negativity. not to be sounding all cliche. but it is. and from what I understand in my readings, its considered a sickness. how do u move on from a neg situation (not getting out "exactly"/"all" that u feel. that feeling being positive or negative)and think that life isnt going to introduce that situation again?? lol

I laugh bc(how old r we again?) i consider it to be easy. u know how good I feel knowing I told u everything i felt whether u like it or not, as long as its off my chest, im able to breathe proper, no longer holding that "neg energy"/"sickness." Some of u dont realize breathing is EVerything... -imma stop there bc its deeper than what most think, and i can easily go off topic...

But anyways yea. "We" dont have a problem anymore (after today) unless u (& whoever "u" shall be in my future) say so. This can be verbal or mental,action always stands outwhich is y im writing this in the 1st place. friends keep asking me who am i talking about and if u feel like its u just ask. To "ask" is actually a smart thing. u kno questions? Trust as i write this, im not just talking just to be typin lol. no. somebody feel a way. we all go through it...but for whatever reason its usually kept like a secret...for many of reasons.

i did a video with dead prez this summer(4 the past couple of days my resume had been in conversations i'd been having,this is how i remembered). Kicked it wit M1 and Stic.... its crazy because b4 doing the video I never knew how many members were in dead prez until I got the call about the video (from my homie sharon aka "sharondivine") anyway i just texted stic & he said they trashed the vid ;( they said it wasnt up to their standards. anyways b4 writing this I was in my yahoo mail, my professor sent me a message saying she found my quiz "YESSSSS" was the feeling when i read "I FOUND YOUR QUIZ" in the subject line. im really trying to start on a fresh foot, not only in school but with everything. moving to la i saw as a cleanse, hopfully a rebirth of me. why not. its evolution.

theres a lot i still haven taken in consideration...i am some what having a hard start, some days. for example my history class isn't tough but tough for someone who's not use to restraints...i don't know, (maybe i shouldn't have said that but im only being real)its a little hard getting use to(reading chapters on history?).

sunday i start my new job with bcbg, Max Azria will be my new manager...chic :) im really excited about this job...im not sure why but it doesn't feel like its going to be the normal retail job. we'll see. however, i have two test next week and i only have two days to study bc i havent opened a book since wednesday smh (shaking my head)PROCRASTINATION ....still on that play then work shit. i wasnt like this in ny tho. i got it in. hoping this feeling will fade soon. everything seems new and im like a kid in the candy store....only difference is im no longer a kid.

meetings with my new management, accountant, and lawyer (wow im gonna have my own lawyer) are in progression. we're all excited, im sometimes scared... im growing out of that now, i dont know. sometimes i dont give myself enough credit.
